Fun, Fun, Fun!

OK, guess what I did today?  That's right, I went to see Toy Story 3 with Anthony(aka Buzz Lightyear) with the movie pass he gave me for my birthday.  We had a wonderful time, he was completely absorbed and saved most of his 10,000 questions for the car ride home.  And then he drew a picture of Buzz, so I'd have a souvenir from our outing.

And yesterday I got to bring Lucy to her first gymnastics class - this is going to be our fun thing to do together.  She is so strong and agile and LOVES to climb, run, jump, bounce, etc.

We had such a good time and Lucy can't wait to go back.  Note the costume change: there was an irresistible leotard at the gym and, well, I didn't resist.  She was so proud of herself.

The Rings!

What a great Fathers Day!  Anthony came up and invited me and Ed to go with him and Megan to choose an engagement ring design at Matthew Taylor Designs in Shelburne.

You may remember that he proposed to beautiful Megan on Valentine's Day, surprising everyone with a unique steel and brass heart-shaped 'heirloom'.  Inside was a diamond and this engraving: "Megan, you are the love of my life.  Please marry me."  Our whole family was thrilled, because we get to keep Megan.

Well, they are busy people.  They live in Fairlee, VT and Anthony works in Hanover, NH while Megan is in graduate school here in Burlington.  She usually goes home on weekends and they are not together up here that often, so this was their first chance to think about setting that diamond.  We gave Megan a very special family ring and they wanted something equally special to go with it, so naturally we thought of our friend Matt Taylor a true artist and all-around great guy.

Megan and Anthony brought their ideas and the family ring and, with Matt's help, came up with a design that will be just gorgeous and as unique as they are.  We can't wait!

And, after fun at the jeweler's we all went to brunch.  Like I said, a wonderful Father's Day.

Fun at Camp Sunshine

G.G. got to spend a lovely four days with Elizabeth, Anthony and Lucy at Camp Sunshine on Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine.  This was the kids' second year and they were so excited to arrive and see their old friends, counselors and volunteers.  Camp Sunshine is a very special place and we were attending Solid Organ Transplant Week.

We spent the days in indoor and outdoor activities (one rainy day, but there is SO much to do, it flew by just like the rest!)  Great food, a comfy family suite, swimming, boating, giant chess, monkey bars, parties, entertainment, and on and on.

Anthony, who had planned to be Sheriff Woody for the costume party, went to pick out a costume for Mom and found...Buzz Lightyear!  So, Lucy was Woody and Anthony never took off his costume except once when it was washed until the day we left.

Thanks to Ben, Rebecca, Sameeta, Kristin, Norm and all the countless volunteers who made our stay so happy.

And Elizabeth!  I think this is her year of physicality - she's running, working out and was eager to do the Camp Sunshine Challenge Course.  After some practice walking and balancing on wires, she was the first in the group to try the 30 foot wire!  I could hardly believe it, but there she was - strong, brave and beautiful!

The final evening is the Wish Boat ceremony.  All the kids make wooden boats, then launch them in the pond with lighted candles and make their wish.  It's a wonderful way to celebrate their health and happiness with each other and their families.

Off we go!

I'm heading off to Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine for a few days with Elizabeth, Anthony and Lucy.  Here are some photos from their 2009 camp adventure.  We all LOVED it - for information about Camp Sunshine's mission, click here.
Ed and the dogs will hold down the fort while we're gone and I'll post some new photos next week.
